The development of digital technology and multimedia has brought significant changes to the landscape of hadith studies, particularly in the ways hadith texts are accessed, disseminated, and understood in the public sphere. Hadith is no longer confined to classical texts and academic settings but now exists within a digital ecosystem through social media, applications, and various multimedia formats. This condition presents both opportunities and challenges, especially concerning scholarly authority, source validity, and methodological approaches in hadith studies. This article aims to examine the direction and future agenda of hadith studies in the post-multimedia era by analyzing shifts in media, transformations of religious authority, and their methodological implications. This study employs a qualitative approach with library research, drawing on classical hadith scholarship, contemporary literature, and academic journal articles addressing hadith, digital media, and multimedia. The data are analyzed using descriptive-analytical methods with thematic and historical-critical approaches. The findings indicate that the post-multimedia era has led to a shift in religious authority, transformations in the dissemination and interpretation of hadith, and the limitations of classical methodologies in responding to digital realities. Therefore, future hadith studies require integrative and interdisciplinary approaches that combine the tradition of ulūm al-ḥadīth with digital literacy, communication ethics, and the application of digital humanities. This article emphasizes that the future of hadith studies depends not only on preserving classical methodologies but also on epistemological adaptability to ensure the continued relevance and authenticity of hadith in contemporary digital society.
